National Grid Working Practices
Overview
The National Grid Working Practices scheme is operated on behalf of National Grid using their requirements for training and assessment.
It is important when working on National Grid assets that individuals have the right training to minimise risks to themselves and their colleagues. By requiring both direct and contracted individuals to undertake specific training and assessment, National Grid aim to minimise these risks.
The categories within this scheme reflect the working practices necessary for carrying out work safely on National Grid assets. Further information about the categories can be found on their dedicated pages.
Current categories include:
Registration
Registration is based upon the successful completion of the course operated by a recognised provider and lasts for 3 years from completion. Upon expiry a refresher course is available.

An Endorsed Training Programme is a training programme that has been endorsed by Energy & Utility Skills as meeting its objectives. They are offered by private companies and any questions relating specifically to that training package should be directed to the appropriate provider.
