Smart Metering Update
UPDATE – 23 December 2020
Following discussions with Meter Operators across the gas and power industries, and the National Skills Academy for Power (NSAP) Smart Metering Network Group, Energy & Utility Skills has decided not to extend all Smart Metering EUSR registrations past 31 December 2020. This is in line with other organisations such as Gas Safe Register and MOCOPA.
We had extended registrations until 31 December 2020 because we recognised that it had been difficult for Meter Operators and NSAP Approved Providers to deliver training due to Covid-19 restrictions. Some individuals will have had Smart Metering registrations expiring which they wouldn’t have been able to renew.
We believe that this extension of the EUSR Smart Metering registration has given Meter Operators and NSAP Approved Providers – and of course the individuals themselves – ample time to get their renewal training and/or assessment arranged and completed. Training Centres and the industry have been operating since the end of the first lockdown which has enabled a reasonable period to catch up.
With EUSR ID cards being delivered to offices and so many already closed or due to close, there will be delays in cards getting to individuals. We are therefore encouraging all companies and individuals to use EUSR, our online register (www.eusr.co.uk) to check Smart Metering registrations for the period of the pandemic.
If you have any questions relating to this, please do call or email us.

UPDATE – 8 October 2020
Following discussions with Meter Operators across the gas and power industries, and the National Skills Academy for Power (NSAP) Smart Metering Network Group, Energy & Utility Skills is extending all Smart Metering EUSR registrations to 31 December 2020.
This automatic extension will be applied to all individuals with an Smart Metering EUSR registration expiring between 27 March 2020 and 30 December 2020.
This action has been taken because we recognise that it is difficult for Meter Operators and NSAP Approved Providers to deliver training in the current situation – some individuals will have a Smart Metering registration expiring which they won’t be able to renew.
This extension of the EUSR Smart Metering registration will give Meter Operators and NSAP Approved Providers – and of course the individuals themselves – time to get their renewal training and/or assessment arranged and completed.
Once the renewal training and/or assessment has taken place, the start date of the renewal registration will be from the original expiry date.
The current situation is changing on a daily basis and we will continue to review our approach.
If you have any questions relating to this, please do call or email us.
