Plant for Utilities Scheme (PLUS)
The Plant for Utilities Scheme (PLUS) is a skills-based scheme designed for operatives using plant equipment within the energy and utilities sector.
PLUS standards have been developed with employers from our sector and cover different skills and environments to that of other industries such as construction, making it far more relevant for utilities operatives. PLUS offers even greater assurance as it not only covers requirements for working with specific plant equipment, it also includes additional content such as capacities as well as attachments and manoeuvres used within specifically within the utilities industries.
In collaboration with employers and providers, we have created a generic standard for the operation of common plant. In addition to this, we have also designed standards for training and assessment for additional and specific types of plant.
As with all skills-based schemes, any provider wanting their plant training programmes approved by Energy & Utility Skills will also need to be approved as a provider. Getting your training programme approved by us gives you recognition for meeting the required quality standards for the energy and utilities sector. To get your programme approved, you will need to align and map your programme to the appropriate PLUS Standards. Once your programme has been approved you can start registering your learners on EUSR.
