All individuals undertaking an Energy & Utility Skills approved SCMC (Water) training and assessment programme must hold the following valid registrations:

Competent Person
A competent person is an operative who will carry out the connection to the network. For registration in this category the individual must have completed an Energy & Utility Skills approved SCMC (Water) training and assessment programme and hold the following valid registrations:
- National Water Hygiene
- Utility SHEA (Water)
- Level 2 Network Construction Operations (Water) Mains Layer (any pipe size)
Senior Competent Person
A senior competent person would normally be a supervisor who will ensure that the connection is being carried out properly and will follow the process to notify the Water Company Controller before, during and after the connection is made. For registration in this category the individual must have completed an Energy & Utility Skills approved SCMC (Water) training and assessment programme and hold the following valid registrations:
Water Company Controller
The water company controller is the employee of the Water Company who liaises with the Senior Competent Person to ensure the correct processes are being followed. For registration in this category the individual must have completed an Energy & Utility Skills approved SCMC (Water) training and assessment programme and hold the following valid registrations:
