Re-Registration of Gas Network Operations

Overview

Gas Network Operations has now been replaced by Network Construction Operations. Employers need to make a declaration of competence to re-register individuals who hold former GNO qualifications. This employer declaration route is also open to individuals who hold existing qualifications accredited by an independent body, such as City & Guilds.

Examples of accepted National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) are:

• Gas Network Engineering (GNE) NVQ Level 3
• Gas Distribution Craftsman NVQ Level 3

Existing registration categories fall under the general heading of Network Construction Operations (Gas) or NCO (G). The list of titles are:

• NCO (G) Trainee
• NCO (G) Assistant
• NCO (G) Service Layer
• NCO (G) Mains Layer up to 180mm
• NCO (G) up to 355mm
• NCO (G) Mains Layer above 355m
• NCO (G) Escape Locate & Repair
