We will check this on EUSR, so you do not need to provide any evidence. This application form can be used to obtain a new EUSR Overhead Linesperson registration or to renew an existing one.

If this application is for a new EUSR registration and card, a photo must be submitted. The photo must conform to the same requirements as a UK passport – head and shoulders only, no headgear (unless for religious purposes), front facing, plain background. We accept PDF and jpeg formats. For EUSR registration renewal, you can also update your current photo.

EUSR Card

An EUSR Overhead Linesperson registration is printed onto a gold skilled worker CSCS Partner card which can be used to access construction sites. Every EUSR registration is awarded a virtual card by default –which you can download onto your mobile – you will receive a text giving you full instructions on how to do this. A virtual card cannot be lost and it’s easy to amend your mobile number should you get a new one. Virtual cards also work in areas where there is no internet. You can opt for an additional plastic smart card, but there will be an additional cost for this.

More information on Plastic Smart Cards

The EUSR Overhead Linesperson Scheme is for individuals who work as an overhead linesperson within the power sector.

Individuals are required to hold an original Qualification or Apprenticeship certificate. Alternatively, Individuals will need to submit all three pieces of required evidence under the NERS scheme or evidence of DNO authorisation.

Individuals are required to submit their certificate(s) with every registration application to ensure the timely processing of registration applications.

Qualification or Apprenticeship certificate:

If an individual holds a qualification or apprenticeship, they will need to submit an original certificate and unit certificates (where required)

Power Network Crafts Person Cable Jointer Apprenticeship OR

Power Industry Distribution Cable Jointer Apprenticeship OR

City & Guilds Certificate in Electrical Power Engineering Overhead Lines SCQF Level 5 SCQF Level 5 (Scottish Modern Apprenticeship in Power Distribution OR
EEA Level 3 Certificate / Diploma for Overhead Tower Linesperson Erector (can only be registered on Overhead Linesperson Transmission category)

Alternatively, individuals must hold one of the following, issued by a DNO

MDSR (Model Distribution Safety Rules) Competent Person company authorisation certificate OR

MDSR (Model Distribution Safety Rules) Authorised Person company authorisation certificate OR

MDSR (Model Distribution Safety Rules) Senior Authorised Person company authorisation certificate

If applying via the NERS scheme, individuals will need to submit evidence of:

NERS Certificate of Competence AND

Employing organisation’s in-date NERS certificate AND

Letter confirming the appointment/role as an Assessing Officer

Registration on EUSR is gained when the required certificate evidence has been submitted and verified.

Individuals must hold a valid EUSR registration for SHEA Power.

Renewing an Overhead Linesperson EUSR registration

EUSR Registration Renewal

Renewal registration is valid for three years is valid for three years. An individual may be re-registered for Overhead Linesperson where the required evidence is submitted and verified.

To access your new virtual card, your EUSR record must include your mobile number, which is why we request it on the Registration Form.

You will only receive your card once the Application Form has been received and verified.

Some employers may also pay £3 for an additional plastic smart card. You must provide a mobile number to receive an SMS message with a unique registration and PIN number to access your virtual card.
