What is the Network Construction Operations (Gas) Trainee scheme?

Trainee registration is for individuals new to the gas industry.  It allows an individual to access work construction sites to facilitate the completion of an appropriate Level 1 or Level 2 Network Construction Operations (Gas) qualification. 

  • Completion of a Level 2 qualification enables the individual to be registered as a skilled worker, NCO (Gas) Service and/or Main Layer 
  • Completion of a Level 1 qualification will enable the individual to achieve registration as an NCO (Gas) Assistant 

Evidence Requirements   

Evidence submitted by the Training Provider or the individual, confirming the Individual’s registration for an appropriate qualification, must include the following:  

  • The Individual’s full name, date of birth, registration number and registration date
  • The Awarding Organisation (AO) providing the qualification, qualification title and reference number 
  • The Training Providers name, address and centre number allocated by the AO  

Pre-requisite Requirements

All individuals must hold a valid EUSR registration for SHEA Gas.

Registration Period 

Trainee registration on EUSR is for a period of 18 months and is non-renewable. 

An individual is expected to have completed their qualification during the registration period and to progress onto an Assistant or Service and/or Main Layer registration on EUSR. 

CSCS Card 

Individuals will be issued a Red CSCS Trainee card with NCO (Gas) Trainee on the reverse.
