What is the PLUS Counter-Balance Forklift Scheme?
This Plant for Utilities Scheme (PLUS) is designed for people who operate Counter-Balance Forklift Trucks in the utilities, waste and recycling industries.
The PLUS mobile plant training standards recognise the skills required to operate mobile plant and attachments, allowing the training and assessment to be specific to the job role.
Delivery Model
Novice
This individual will have had no experience or training in operating plant equipment. A novice will need to sit a full training course, theory and practical assessment.
Experienced Operator
Depending on an individual’s level of experience and training, the training provider can put the individual through either:
- An upskilling course with theory and practical assessment or
- A conversion course with full theory and practical assessment or
- An assessment only programme
Assessment
There is a theory and practical assessment for each standard which an individual must successfully pass to gain registration on each PLUS category.
Registration
EUSR registration for a PLUS category is for 5 years from the date of completion.
Renewal
There is more than one way to renewing a PLUS registration, this includes competency assurance, re-assessment and refresher routes through an approved training provider.
Re-Assessment
If an individual is regularly using the specific piece of plant equipment leading up to the expiry of their 5 year registration, they are eligible of taking a full theory and practical test that covers all the requirements of the specification.
Refresher
If an individual has not used the piece of plant equipment recently, the individual will need to complete a refresher course and a full theory and practical test.
