What is the Slinger Signaller Scheme?
The Slinger Signaller scheme is designed for individuals who control slinging and lifting of loads. It is applicable across various industries and caters to different types of lifting plant operations.
Lifting equipment and associated loads have the potential to cause great harm if not operated in a safe and efficient manner. The law states that all people involved in slinging loads and directing lifting operations must be trained and competent to reduce the risk of harm on site.
This scheme encompasses the essential aspects of a slinger signaller’s role, including key health and safety legislation, their responsibilities, risks associated with working as a slinger signaller, control measures, as well as how to employ communication methods effectively. This includes the use of signals as defined in the Health and Safety (Safety Signs and Signals) Regulations 1996, enabling an individual to effectively guide and instruct plant operators when lifting loads on site.
